Jean-Paul Aron (27 May 1925 – 20 August 1988) was a French writer, philosopher and journalist. His most notable work is Les Modernes, which was published in 1984. Aron was born in Strasbourg. He was a close friend of Michel Foucault in the early 1950s, before a falling out over a lover. He was, like Foucault, an early person of renown in France to die of AIDS, and is widely credited for giving the disease a human face and challenging the public perception of the disease. During his lifetime, he published several historical works that examined middle-class social practices. He is buried at 6, rue du Repos in Paris. Nicolas Vogel (born in Paris, France, May 27, 1925 - died in Paris September 17, 2006) was an actor and comedian who was featured in numerous films and television shows in the 1960s and 1970s, including The Man from Chicago (1963), Le Gitan (1975), Mado (1976), and Cop or Hood (1979). Freddie Gruber was a jazz drummer and later a drum teacher. Like his friend and early roommate Buddy Rich, Gruber was a jazz drummer in the New York Bebop scene in the mid-1940s. Transitioning to instructor, Gruber mentored some of the leading rock and session drummers from the 1970s through the 2000s, among them Frank Zappa's Vinnie Colaiuta, Journey's Steve Smith, Rush's Neil Peart, Chick Corea's Dave Weckl, and many others, becoming the pro drummer's top industry guru. Freddie Gruber died in Los Angeles after a long illness in 2011.
