This TV movie follows the life of a single mother, Dawn Anna, who is raising her four children. Some time after finding a job teaching math, she discovers that she has a terrible brain disease that prevents her from speaking and moving. She then undergoes surgery. With determination and the help of her children and partner, she gradually regains her speech and ability to move. On Tuesday, April 20, 1999, like every morning, Dawn walked her young daughter Lauren, nicknamed Lulu, to school. Lauren died in the Columbine shooting. In the wake of this heartbreak, Dawn became an anti-gun activist.
